Mr Kemp's BIG JUMPER
of exciting news!...

I've always been a rather busy chap, working on all sorts of projects (often at the same time), but if you're wondering what exactly have I been up to lately, then here's a brief run down...

December 2011

After the success of October's 'Affordable Art Sale' at Bonzo in Southsea, the PCM (Portsmouth Creative Movement) held a second event. Over two days we sold all manner of painted canvases, framed prints, photographs, t-shirts, original illustrations, plushies, zines, jewellery and sculptures. Again, a great success.

I was asked to take part in MonkJam2, a group exhibition held at Tea Tray in the Sky, a gallery in Portsmouth. All the artists involved were given 72 hours to create a piece with the theme of 'The Good, The Badass and The Ugly'.

November 2011

A yeti character design of mine was chosen to be included in Pictoplasma's 'Missing Link' exhibition in Paris! Running from 7th - 31th December 2011 at la Gaîté lyrique.

I've been working on a bit of a website refresh and update and trying to get more of my work up for people to see...

It's November so I'd like to wish all my friends a very happy Halloween!

I contributed two pages of artwork for the first DisColouring Book - a colouring book with a twist! It's available to buy for a mere £5.99 from the official facebook page. Click the link above...

October 2011

I am pleased to announce that I am now a 'PseudoTrooper' which means that my work will now be available through the very talented folks at We Are Pseudonym.

We held an 'Affordable Art Sale' at Bonzo in Southsea. I sold a few canvases including a yellow fluffy monster and a green fluffy monster shaving his bottom!

We had lots of good feedback including the following review, and some nice comments! Here's a review: Strong Island and a mention on the Teamdel Blog

September 2011

More t-shirt news... My 'knitwear-themed' Star Wars design was voted a winner by followers of the We Are Pseudonym site and so will be printed on a 'daisy yellow' shirt - and will be available to buy soon! (in both 'his' and 'hers' styles).

August 2011

...And I'm off! I am now officially down to working just 2 days a week in order to fully concentrate on my freelance work - so if anybody would like to commission some fun artwork, now's a good time!

I've been working on two t-shirt designs for a charity bike ride through Cuba to raise money for Parkinson's UK.

There are both a 'his' and a 'hers' version available.

Some of my illustrations have been used on the new Portsmouth Library children's leaflets to publicise children's services.

July 2011

I've been working on card designs for both the 'invite' and 'RSVP' cards to send out to the guests for our wedding reception!

June 2011

Despite rain on the Sunday, we had another great weekend painting along side some nice people at Bristol's Upfest. My second appearance at the Bristol based festival, and I decided to paint a big picture of Shakespeare T. Monkey learning to swim. I'm still not quite sure why... (well, it was fairly wet I guess!) but many thanks also to Leila for helping out.

May 2011

I've been working with a Portsmouth writer on an illustrated children's book project. We have lots of really cool ideas and I like the combination of his words and my pictures. More details soon.

April 2011

The new 'Special Educators' Jessica Kingsley catalogue is now available to view as a downloadable PDF file, and both of our packs of Challenge Me! Cards appear (on page 12 and page 18).

March 2011

Taking advantage of thier 'March Madness' offer, I am now a fully paid-up member of The Association Of Illustrators.

Plus, I've been drawing monkeys. Lots and lots of monkeys!

February 2011

I was asked to make some updates and to add a new page for 'Book Illustrations' for the Kitty Dinners website that I built for my good friend Katy Dynes.

January 2011

I'm still busy scribbling away drawing monkeys, old ladies and science geeks as illustrations for some great kid's poems. Full details to follow...
